With this song, I wanted to remind myself how good things take time to nurture into fruition. It’s something many people tend to overlook especially today, where faster, more convenient, cheaper is valued in this consuming culture. The status of how many, how high, how more than the others…it's just the numbers based on the system we live in. The worth of individuals is not equivalent to the numbers.

This mindset can be quite detrimental, especially in the creative fields. As an first-generation immigrant and independent indie musician, my incubation period has been quite long.

I felt like I wasn’t qualified to call myself a musician without having my own original releases. Completing a song can take some time - small ideas into a whole structured story of a sound with lyrics, melody, instrumentation with the cost of gears, recording equipment, studio + rehearsal time, mixing, even before tapping into the promotional side of images, videos, and networking.

Comparing myself to those who happen to shine in the mainstream, I felt like a powerless useless loser, who deserves to have some mundane muggle job no one seems to care about.

The image of conventional success, where the number is the scale to determine an individual's worth, makes me think. It's applicable to any status. I felt like we are living our lives chasing a status that doesn’t really mean much in the end. There should be much bigger reasons for what we pursue.

Art seems to be the first thing to be put on a backburner when we are just capable of surviving each day. The majority moves on as daily tasks take away all their time & energy. I urge anyone with a creative fire that hasn’t yet found its own voice not to let it go. It’s a gift given to all of us by nature, which this society tells us to forget as we grow older.

We need to learn to take time. People might lose interest, and move on. Let them go. When things are finally ready, when the stars align after awaited days to years, what we finally witness is something very spellbinding.
