Personal feelings is universal. I'm not the only one and you're not neither. This is a place for everyone...
Growing up in Japan, where she constantly felt the weight of societal expectations, the period of her early teen to later teenage years became her form of resistance.
Music soon became her sanctuary, a place where she could break free from the pressures that suffocated her. “All that I wanted growing up was to rock out on a stage,” Misa says.
Despite her unwavering passion for music, her quest to find the right path as a musician proved to be a fruitless journey. Misa explains, “Then my simple enough brain made this order for me to flee from my own country - there might be a better chance for me to find musicians with more similar influences in the place where the music I used to listen to originated”. As soon as she turned 20, grabbing her long-awaited student visa, she flew to the U.S. in 2011, despite the discouragement of others who called it a 'reckless decision.'
It might have been reckless, and perhaps not the ideal path to a professional career, but it’s our own life to live — we have the right to steer our own course, don't we?
Her determination brought her to the environment where she yearned for years - the very place where she could finally begin. Her journeys are reflected through her music with deeply personal yet universally resonant experiences, while trying to encourage others to find strength in their own struggles.
Meeyan Punch consists of Japanese singer-songwriter Misa Fukuda who has migrated to the U.S. to pursue her passion of music, and Canadian-American bassist/co-songwriter Dylan Hodge.
